Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Following up on the concept and discussion of being 'Day One Ready' we invited Dr. Christina Gatta and Dr. Lauren Fenton, 2020 graduates of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinarians at PAW Health Network to share their first year of being doctors.
What is the transition like going from school to being a Doctor? The process is one that can be very rough if implemented in a poor working environment, so what was done to help ease that process? Who did Dr. Gatta and Dr. Fenton lean on when they needed help. Was there a tipping point in moving from a student into being a practitioner? Have they faced down failure? What did they learn on the fly? Where were they most and least prepared?
In this episode, we discuss topics ranging from their onboarding and mentorship experiences, the transition from the classroom to clinical rotations to employment, the process of gathering the confidence necessary to succeed in the field and much more. What was your first year post-graduation like? Did you start up as fast as you had hoped? What were your major roadblocks or bottlenecks to success early on? Share in the comments!
